The Cornish Plastic Pollution Coalition is a network of over 50 marine conservation and environmental groups in Cornwall who work together to deliver free education workshops , conduct beach-cleans & litter-picks, carry out citizen science, lobbying and awareness raising covering a range of marine pollution related themes.
Our Cornwall Climate Action Day activity is to learn a really cool song all about marine litter. It’s called ‘The Plastic Bag Song’ and was written by Nick Cope of CBeebies Popcast fame! Nick and the CPPC have joined forces to bring you a simple-to-learn song with easy actions that will really help get across the message about marine plastics, and how they can enter the food chain.
We would like you to watch our video, learn the words and the actions, and then try a performance of your own. You don’t need anything except your loud singing voices, and your crazy action moves! You could sing the song to your family, your classmates, or even the whole school, and we would love to hear the final results.
The CPPC and Nick are hoping that hearing this song will inspire some of you to go on and compose songs of your own about marine litter, and how it harms the oceans and the creatures that live there. So get your music minds moving and let’s see what happens next.
Suitable for KS1 & KS2
